Clean, bright photos do more for sales than any caption.

Shoot in soft, even daylight. Stand near a window or step into open shade outdoors — direct midday sun creates harsh shadows that hide texture. An overcast day is a craft photographer’s best friend.

Use a plain, uncluttered background so the product is unmistakably the subject. A sheet of poster board, a length of linen, or a weathered wood board all work. Whatever you choose, keep it consistent across your listings so your shop looks like one shop.

Fill the frame and shoot from a few angles: one straight-on hero shot, one three-quarter view, and one close-up of the detail you’re proudest of. For anything wearable or scale-dependent, include a shot that shows size — in a hand, on a shelf, next to a common object.

Edit lightly. Bump exposure and contrast a touch, straighten the horizon, and crop tight. Resist heavy filters; a shopper who feels the photo was "enhanced" will wonder what the real thing looks like.
